The steeply pitched roof and tall chimney give the house presence. Terracotta chimney pots provide an eye-catching detail. A small oriel window at the attic loft caps the façade.
At the front façade a portion of the original brick house peeks through. An old louver panel was repurposed as a custom engraved stone address plaque. A new larger window provides morning light to the living room.
The kitchen utilizes an “L” configuration with a large furniture-like island. Two small windows capture southern light and maintain privacy from the neighbor.
A small rear family room opens onto the kitchen. The kitchen island provides seating with bar stools. The more formal dining room was placed at the front of the house.
The foyer, enhanced with slate flooring, opens onto the center hall. The arcade of low-spring arches, embellished with bullnose corners, defines the space while feeling open.
Owner’s bedrooms should be personal, and if you love the designer Dorothy Draper you will love this wallpaper originally designed for the Greenbrier Hotel in West Virginia. The stair ascends to the loft area with oriel window.
The loft is a bonus space linked to the owner’s bedroom. Four pendants visually anchor the space and show off the Dorothy Draper wallpaper. The casement, oriel, window looks to the front of house.
Viewing across the kitchen island is the arcade which defines the center hall. The basement stair walls were removed to visually open the space; the new railings were custom fabricated to replicate the original stair railings.

New railing at basement stair. The old wall and basement door were removed and replaced with a railing. The stair leads to a finished walk-out basement. The foyer entry is visible beyond.
The façade was embellished with architectural detail. An oriel window with custom-made brackets caps the high gable. Second floor casement windows flank a recessed panel with molding. Stucco with integral coloring provides texture and low maintenance.
The new dining room sits within the front addition and is wrapped on two sides by casement windows. A wainscot of applied paneling enhances the room.
