Kitchen Remodel

McLean, Virginia

A “U” shaped kitchen layout provides a generous work area and breakfast bar. The main working kitchen is unified by its off-white painted cabinetry. New windows provide a garden view and natural light. Wide plank maple flooring was integrated with the existing floor.

A large porcelain farm sink is centered on the new windows in the work area. Pendant light fixtures accentuate the bar.
The opening to the new kitchen addition formerly accommodated a sliding glass door.
The double stainless steel sink was placed at window for garden views. The kitchen island features an integrated microwave drawer.
The kitchen doors provide access to the outdoor kitchen and dining areas.
Looking from the dining area toward the kitchen, the partition wall screens the cooking area. The assemblage of the partition wall, storage cabinet, and breakfast bar form a sculptural element at the island in the kitchen. The top of the storage cabinet serves as a buffet during dinner parties.
