A niche-like alcove emphasizes the vertical space of the great room and provides a focal point at one end. Tall windows original to the building cue the aesthetics for the kitchen wall. As a foil to the verticality, an altar-like peninsula provides a horizontal plane on which meals can be served and celebrated.
An existing closet in the entry hall was retrofitted with a custom wine rack, a food pantry with adjustable rollout shelves, and space for cleaning supply storage.

Adjacent to the kitchen is a hidden pantry, which uses reclaimed space along one side of a structural concrete column. Custom adjustable shelving maximizes the 6-inch deep space. Pivot hinges replicate the existing closet door hardware in the nearby entry hall and allow the doors to visually disappear.
tained cherry cabinets were selected to contrast with the space’s gallery-white walls and light oak floors. A linear backsplash tile in clear glass and stainless steel Thermador appliances highlight the clean, modern aesthetic.
