Fireplace Design Ideas

Planning on remodeling your home? Just trying to update a single room and trying to figure out what’s missing? While the color scheme and flooring are important, don’t overlook the “extra” design elements—pieces that can enhance the space or even act as a beautiful focal point.

Have you considered a fireplace? Not only are they appropriate for the winter, but they can easily improve the aesthetic of a room. Whether you want to install a new fireplace or replace an old one that is making your space feel outdated, the Wentworth design-build team can help.

Fireplace Pictures: Design Inspiration for Your Home

We have experience incorporating fireplaces into remodels—from formal living rooms to modern great rooms to bedrooms. Browse the photos below to get fireplace ideas for your own home!

Fireplace in Bedroom

If your bedroom has the space, installing a fireplace can add character. In this bedroom, the Silestone hearth, outer surround, and mantel contrast nicely with not only the light inner stone surround but also the blue and white walls—and the silver pieces complement the other décor pieces in the room.

Living Room Fireplace

The new fireplace helps complement the overall design of this formal, traditional living room. The marble surround helps accent the “classic” look and feel of the room, and the mirror above the mantel matches the fireplace door frames.

In this living room, the gas fireplace, flanked by custom built-ins, provides a focal point. The black surround matches the furniture and also offsets the white of the mantel, cabinets, shelves, and wall sconces.

Unique Fireplace
Fireplace Before Remodel

This great room had a 21-foot-tall tower of brick at the fireplace wall—the homeowners wanted to change the brick to marble. The new gas fireplace with silver travertine facing and hearth, is more modern yet still retains the elegance of the room. The horizontal veining of the travertine slabs helps offset the vertical dominance of the room and provides visual interest. A “before” picture can be seen on the left.

“ From the architects to the carpenters, we had complete confidence in Wentworth's expertise. Once construction started, we were very pleased with the communication we had with Wentworth -- Victor kept us apprised of scheduling issues and other relevant developments, and was (and continues to be) extremely responsive and professional. Wentworth did an outstanding job of resolving every hiccup that occurred during the course of our project. Wentworth met our extremely high expectations in almost every area. Our initial meeting with Bruce made clear that Wentworth was the only real choice for our renovation: unlike the several other architects and builders we consulted, Bruce asked us probing questions about how we use our house, actually listened to us, and then gave us options for renovating our space that were beautiful and met our functional needs. We will recommend Wentworth next time we know someone who's looking to renovate. We love our new space - thank you for creating it! ”
