What Sets Wentworth Apart?

WE’RE UNIQUE

Wentworth, Inc., a fine home remodeling company in Chevy Chase, MD, is a unique collaboration of architects, designers and craftsmen who integrate architecture, interiors and construction to create award-winning homes with timeless livability. Based on 25 years of design-build experience, Bruce Wentworth, AIA, a noted architect with a passion for residential remodeling and historical architectural styles, founded Wentworth, Inc. in 2004. Wentworth, Inc. believes that livability and beauty is essential to every design endeavor. This belief has been instrumental in some of the Washington, DC Metro area’s most recognized home renovations.

The Design-Build Advantage

Experienced architects, designers and skilled craftsmen are the essence of our award-winning design-build firm. Throughout the design-build process, we are committed to precision, quality aesthetic sense and an adherence to your needs and budget. From rough framing to finish work, appliance selection to paint colors, the Washington, DC architects and home designers at Wentworth will guide you through every step of the process and manage every detail.

As a design-build firm, Wentworth Inc.’s expert home builders offer architecture, interior design and construction under one roof. Simply put, we are your single point of contact. We believe in accountability and responsibility every step of the way. Our effective and time-tested process avoids the common pitfall of many home remodeling projects, such as substandard design, poor communication, inaccurate drawings, schedule delays, and cost overruns. Our experienced Production Manager and Lead Carpenters oversee every Wentworth, Inc. jobsite and monitor construction progress on a daily basis. This onsite presence means our Production Manager is able to anticipate problems in the field and communicate them to our in-office team in a timely and efficient manner. When you remodel with Wentworth, Inc., you will never have to serve as mediator between the people you’ve entrusted with your home.

Strategic Design Choices to Fit Every Project

Wentworth, Inc.’s extensive home remodeling experience enables us to make strategic design choices that intelligently allocate a client’s budget for the best results. By taking into account the placement of varied building materials, whether it’ll be used on a prominent architectural feature such as a front porch or in a less noticeable area such as a garage, Wentworth, Inc. can make intelligent use of an expensive product. For example, the use of expensive stucco on a home’s façade may only be needed in the most prominent areas, thus reducing the client’s cost while maintaining the design vision and budget.

The Wentworth Process

Embarking upon a remodeling project can be daunting and overwhelming. That’s why Wentworth, Inc. takes care of the details, from design all the way through construction. Our proven ten-step process ensures our clients remain informed throughout the course of their projects. The Wentworth process begins with an introduction. We meet with you in your home to view the space and understand your goals and desires for the project. During this meeting, we’ll discuss design concepts and establish a conceptual construction budget. With an agreed upon conceptual budget, the design phase begins. Our team will measure and photograph your house and begin to develop design solutions. At the design presentation, we present plans, elevations, product samples and more. Based on your feedback and design preferences, we establish a more accurate budget for the remodeling project and with your approval, commence final construction drawings. At this point, our interior design staff will guide you through the final selection of various products, finishes and appliances. With all of the final plans and specifications in place, we prepare a fixed-price construction contract. Finally, we procure all necessary approvals and permits and begin construction as scheduled.

Staying in Character with a Sensitive Design

Our commitment to remodeling older homes for contemporary lifestyles is evident in our desire to make fine design, skilled craftsmanship, and livable luxuries accessible to our clients. As premier home builders in the Washington, DC Metro area, where modern lifestyles can conflict with the charm of older urban homes, we value a holistic approach to remodeling. Every Wentworth, Inc. project is sensitive to the history and design of a home, as well as its surrounding neighborhood. Wentworth knows how to appropriately modernize an older home while remaining sympathetic to its historical character. Our seamless integration of the old with the new and an unparalleled attention to detail contribute to a successful home remodeling that matches the client’s desires and budget.
