Family Room Remodel

Simple painted wainscot defines the family room and provides the ideal setting for the contemporary furniture pieces.
One wall of the family room is fitted with a custom built-in that accommodates both pantry storage and a desk with bookcases. The homeowners chose to utilize their flatscreen monitor as their TV and computer.
A wireless printer is unobtrusively concealed in a drawer of the built-in. Sleek brushed-chrome pulls by Hafele accentuate the contemporary design and provide visual consistency throughout the space.
The scale and detailing of the contemporary wainscot allows for an easy transition to the baseboard found in the more formal rooms of the house.
The wainscot is accentuated with simple reveals that provide detail to the entire space and integrate well with the built-ins.
The existing kitchen and family room was opened up by removing extraneous partitions to maximize the space. New (and newly located) Weather Shield double-hung windows increase available light and air and define each space.
